Pick of the Week: Bach Choir Presents "America: Makers and Dreamers"

To kick off its 81st concert season the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh has chosen to celebrate all those who dream and work to make America a beacon of hope to the world in concerts entitled “America: Makers and Dreamers”..
There are many inspiring musical pieces available that speak to the benefits or hard work and of appreciating what we have. Stirring poetry brought to life through song is a terrific way to tell this story. Artistic Director Thomas W. Douglas has chosen some of the best and most tuneful of these.

The program for this musical pastiche includes:
The Promise of Living - Aaron Copland
Frostiana (selections) - Randall Thompson
Shenandoah - Gwyneth Walker
Old American Songs (selections) - Aaron Copland
Make Our Garden Grow-  Leonard Bernstein

About this production of America: Makers and Dreamers, Maestro Douglas says:
“In considering how fortunate we are, it is fitting that we pay homage to those who came before and made our lives possible. Hard work and dreaming of a bright future is the watchword in these pieces by some great American composers. We are confident you will find inspiration in the selections included in our compelling season-opening concerts.”

Join the Bach Choir in the beautiful refurbished Energy Innovation Center for these performances that display the Pittsburgh spirit of hard work. Performances will be at The Energy Innovation Center, 1435 Bedford Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15219 on Saturday, November 7th @ 8:00 pm and on Sunday, November 8th @ 4:00 pm
