Washington Pa. Symphony Looking for Applicants for Young Artist Competition

The Washington Symphony Orchestra is looking for music students, who are
residents of Washington County, to enter its annual Young Artist
Competition. The competition is open to classical vocalists or
instrumentalists who play brass, harp, percussion, piano, strings, or
woodwinds.

Students who audition must be prepared to play/sing one movement of a
standard repertoire piece for solo and orchestra.  An accompanist is
required for the audition.

The deadline for entries is February 15, 2017 with auditions for
finalists scheduled for a week later at Trinity High School on February
22.

The winner will receive a $1,000 prize and have the opportunity to play
with the WSO during its “Irish Eyes” concert on Saturday May 6, 2017.

Entry forms are available now on the WSO’s website www.washsym.org.
Past winners of the competition include violinist Anthony D’Orazio
(2015) and pianist Ben Artuso (2016), both from Trinity High School in
Washington.
