Cocktail Anyone? Something to Sip When the Air Gets Nippy

Allspice Sour Cocktail

Although many folks see the end of summer coming with the passing of Labor Day, it really doesn’t officially end until the autumnal equinox on September 22 this year. (at 10:21 a.m. in Pittsburgh to be exact). With some glorious weeks of fall and its beautiful landscapes of bronze, red and gold trees just around the corner, you might want to match your beverages of choice to the upcoming season.
Here are some delicious, consumer-friendly fall cocktails  perfect for neighborhood block parties, tailgates, Halloween gatherings – tailor made for any occasion to celebrate fall fun and fall flavors.

Allspice Sour
2 oz     Berentzen Bushel & Barrel
3?4 oz    Lemon Juice
1?4 oz    Bitter Truth Pimento Dram
1?4 oz    Simple Syrup
Add all ingredients to a shaker tin, add ice, and shake. Double strain into glass and garnish with thin apple slice.

Apple Snapping Cocktail

Apple Snapping
1 oz     Bitter Truth Pink Gin
1 oz     Berentzen Apple Liqueur
1?2 oz    Lemon Juice
1?2 oz    Simple Syrup
2 dashes Bitter Truth Celery Bitters
Add all ingredients to a shaker tin, add ice, and shake. Double strain into glass and garnish with celery frond.

Old Core Cocktail

Old Core
1 oz     Cognac
1 oz     Berentzen Bushel & Barrel
1 oz     Sweet Vermouth
2 dashes Bitter Truth Creole Bitters
2 dashes Bitter Truth Aromatic Bitters
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir to proper dilution. Strain into cocktails glass and garnish with a cherry.

Berentzen, a German company founded in 1758, specializes in fruit liqueurs (apple, peach, pear, cherry) and makes an apple bourbon: Bushel & Barrel.

The Bitter Truth is a company founded by two mixologists, Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck. Their lineup includes a vast range of bitters, liqueurs, and a pink gin.
